I downloaded the 1860 census image for "Enoc" Ritter of Fenton Township, Whiteside Co., IL. For dwelling # 1102, Family # 1093 the following are listed:
Enoc Ritter, age 54, male, Farmer, b. Penn.
Susan Ritter, 50, female, b. NY
George Ritter, 13, male b. NY
Ellen Ritter, 11, female, b. NY
As I described earlier, Abram, Daniel and Philinda are found in different households in Lyndon township, Whiteside Co., IL
This all seems to match pretty well with the info you originally posted.
I have old photos of three of the siblings.Let me know and I can send you scanned images if you are interested.
Another item of note:
My mother-in-law who is almost 97 remembers Philinda (her favorite grandmother) and her brother George. She says their Ritter ancestor was originally a member of some sort of German "royal" family and escaped from Germany hidden in a wine cask during some kind of social upheaval.Have you heard any tales like this?I don't know how much credibility to attach to my mother-in-laws story since I have found some of her other family tradition events to not be true.
