It's a Scottish name, from the area around Inverness in the Highlands. It's a diminutive of Rich (Richard), which means "powerful, brave." The Ritchie's were part of the clan Mackintosh, if you want to google for the Mackintosh crest? I dunno how to show pics atm sorry.
