The obituary says the following:
Died, in New Orleans, of yellow fever, on the 10th, last.RICHARD S. RISLEY, a native of this city, aged 23 years.Growing with the spirit of enterprise, our young friend left his northern home but two short years ago.The many friends his ever pleasing manners and unusually endearing qualities had gained him, have now to feel, that neither his manly virtues, nor their heartfelt prayers, could save him from that final pestilence which has made ourSouthern
Metropolis like a kingdom of death. But that Great Being who withheld him inyouth from the paths of error was doubtless near him in that dread inevitable hour which prostrated his earthly hopes, and brought sorrow th the hearts of all who loved him.In the words of one of his infant friends, "We shall see him no more here, but in heaven we shall see him again".For some reason the obit is dated by hand, Oct. 9th 1841.
In Calif. I have a friend by the name of Risley.
