In reply to your request for information on Rishes and Woodwards in South Carolina and that Mary Rish was probably the daughter of Adam Rish and Mary Holman (I have spelling as Hallman).
Adam Rish and Mary Hallman had seven children, four boys and three girls.
Mary Rish (child number 7) was born December 23, 1843, died September 29, 1917 and is buried at Mt. Zion cemetery, Clay County, GA (between Bluffton and Ft. Gaines, GA). The church has now been torn down, but the last time I was there the cemetery was well kept. Mary married Thomas Madison Killingsworth and he is also buried at Mt. Zion cemetery.
You will also find Adam Rish and Mary Hallman as well as sons Henry A. (child number 1) and Lemuel E. Rish (child number 2) buried at Mt. Zion.
Child number 3, Louisa Catherine Rish, married Willis Perry McArthur and is buried in Terrell County, GA.
Child number 4, John F. Rish married Mary Foster and they had one child Henry. I have no record where they are buried.
Child number 5, Sarah Martha Rish was born July 20, 1840 and died August 25, 1925, married Thomas Moses Richardson of Clay County, GA in 1866. I have no record where they are buried, though I do know that they had six children.
Child number 6, Wesley Rish (my grandfather) married Elizabeth Peacock January 14, 1869 and they are buried at Vilulah Baptist Church, located near Coleman, GA just inside Randolph County from Clay County. Wesley and Elizabeth had ten childre, six boys and four girls.
I hope this will help you some.
I would like to know the location of the Rish Family Burial grounds outside Aiken, SC if you would give it to me. I have spent about three days in and around Lexington, SC checking cemeteries.
