Hi Jamie, that's the one I am talking about, can you send any confirmation of the marriage for the Genealogists in TN and KY are saying that there is not concrete proof that Nancy Ann Holliday was the wife, just Ann is listed as the wife in his will but some one gave me this name and I am sure it was Charles and Jenny Durham but the Genealogists who called me said that they called the person who started the name and he didn't have any proof. We don't have any info on Nancy Ann and I sure would like to find some for she is my GGGGGGmother and I am interested in all that I can find out about those RIPPEYS.
We have Jesse and James and Edward on TN Census as early as 1808. I have the RIPPY-BLACK Bible Page copy from an 81 yr old cousin who sent it to me back in the 1980s and she didn't remember which cousin she got it from, but the critics are saying it could not be true for they took it to say that my Wagon Train Jess settled in TN in 1800, but it doesn't say that at all, the Title is Rippy-Black Family 1800 and it says that in 1798 a wagon train started from southern VA and eventually settled in Sugar Grove TN, but they would not listen when I explained that. All the other information on the marriages and dates of the sons of Jesse and Elizabeth MOODY RIPPY have checked out and they are saying that those families came from NC well, they did, but some of them went to VA and OH and KY and TN! I sure wish I could find the Wagon Train and whence it started from and the trail it took, but I have a good idea of that due to history of the time! I cannot find anything on Mary Elizabeth "Polly" MOODY either but am convinced that Jess is the son of Matthew and Nancy Ann HOLLIDAY. I wish I could find these women! I found Mary Ann BLACK, Jesse's 2nd wife and her family in IL, thanks to cousins I met on a visit to Odin, IL. I have been blest to receive the marriage bond from Jean McSwain and Donna Doxey sent info from NC and SC to me and also I met a cousin who sent me the marriage bond of Jesse and Mary from a cousin in KY that I met last year! We have a trail leading to the path that my GGDad William Morgan RIPPY married a cousin, Mary RIPPY RIPPY, d/o Elvis Jefferson RIPPY, his uncle in TN but all we have on her and him is the marriage bond and there were gobs of Mary Rippys the same age and b. 1857 so we shall see. I have her listed as EJR's child but no info on her, so I think I need to find her in Sumner Co TN and see where and whence it says about her, if only I had her middle name it is E and could be Elizabeth or Ellen, who knows? We have rambled around the Mary E. BROWN, his first wife legends forever to find out she died and he married this Mary RIPPY, Gma has a Mary Elizabeth HAULIE/HAWLEY listed as his wife and Mother of Alice Bell and the rest of the kids and a cousin in IA says Mary HAULIE was her Gmother, so now we have to prove the Mary on the license and see who she was and I have found nothing on a Mary HAULIE anywhere, so maybe Gma was writing from memory, but Ida should know for she lived with them as a girl, sure wish someone would find a Wm Morgan and Mary Rippy family Bible! Well, the families that were on the wagon train with them went to Odin, IL when they did, anywhere between 1887 and 1900s and they are all on the 1900s Census and there is a family story that was published about the Rippy-Black-Jackson Families that has lots of info on some of those that others said didn't go to TN with them, but there are lots of obits in IL about all of them, also. I found three Matthew Rippeys living about the same time: one in VA and two in Orange Co NC so it's gonna be hard to distinguish who is who except for the one in VA came to IN and we have lots of stuff on him cause he was a State Representative! So anything you have on this Matthew and Nancy Ann HOLLIDAY RIPPY would surely be appreciated by this RIPPY Child, d/o JesseE RIPPY; gd/o Jesse Woodson RIPPY; ggd/o Wm Morgan RIPPY; gggd/o Jesse Anderson RIPPY and ggggd/o Jesse (maybe Matthew Jesse) Rippy and gggggggd/o Matthew and Nancy Ann HOLLIDAY RIPPY!
