I am 'one of the many descendants' of the Ripley line you are speaking of in this post, and clearly you are someone who knows what he's talking about! May I ask you a couple of questions about this line? I have much information from my family (though it is not all correct) but I do have some missing pieces. My family information was that Ludwig, a blacksmith came to America from Germany for religious reasons. He was a Methodist according to family lore. I read in another of your posts (#1238) that he was Lutheran (which makes sense considering where he came from), but I was wondering if he actually stated for any document that he was Lutheran. Do you know?
I also saw you spell his name both; Ruppell and Rupple in that same post. Which is the original German spelling he used, do you know?
Also, I seem to have dates and places of birth/death for Ludwig's son John (the Patriot), but not for his son John. (I even have a copy of John 'Patriots' will)
My family tree lists just a birth year for John II as 1794, and I have his death date and place as Oct 27, 1872, Harrison, Ohio. Your post lists that John's birth year as 1786. Can you give me more details on this John? Also, his wife Eunice (Unity) McBride has been a brick wall for me. I have her birth at July 18th, 1795 in Delaware, and death as Sep. 29th 1888, and according to an 1880 census, both her parents were born in Ireland, but I can't find any info. on her in Delaware, and I have no clue what here parents names were. I don't suppose you know???
Also, ANY more info you can give me on this line would be VERY much appreciated! I am thinking you have a bit more on Ludwig? I have been seeing posts saying his wife was Sybilla Maria Kraemer. My family history didn't have her name, but had that Ludwig had two sons (Henry(b.1762/d.1784) & Valentine(b.1758/d.1776)) who were killed in the war. As far as the other children (aside from John who is my line), and the 2 who died, I don't know for sure, but have seen a lot of names floating around out there. Can you give me the right names?
Again, ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I live in a place with VERY limited internet access, and even then it is sloooowww dial up, and I am far away from any other research options so I am pretty limited in my searching most of the time.
THANK YOU in advance for ANY tid-bits you can throw my way.
