Rev H. M. Ripley was Horatio M. Ripley, son of (are you ready for this name?) Tyrannus Ripley (1782-1882) and his wife Rebecca Susan Howe (1795-bef 1880). They were married November 24, 1811 in Livingston County, New York. They had at least 11 children I know of, many with colorful names and/or life stories. For example, they had sons named 'Cicero', 'Piram','Eliakim' 'Leman', 'Oscar', 'Harmon', and so on. A very interesting family. Here is the start of their family in 1850...

This is another DAR-Patriot family, as the father of Tyrannus, was Piram Ripley (b. MA 1762, d. NY 1844), and his wife Hannah Plwin (b. 1769)>? they were married June 6, 1785 in Cattaragus County, New York, and they had at least 12 children whom I know of.

Piram Ripley found in this list, age 77, living in the household of William Bount.
(From the DAR book) Ripley, Pyran (sic) He was born in Duxbury, Mass. Nov. 22, 1762. Died in Franklinville, Catt. Co., NY March 23, 1844. He married Hannah Plwin, June 6, 1785. She was born Apr. 24, 1769 at Haetwood, Plymouth Co., Mass. He had twelve children. Moved to Franklinville June 3, 1839. Pension commenced March 4, 1832 for service as a sailor and private in the Infantry. Name sometimes spelled Pirwin. Pension $91.33 per annum. His name appears on Pension List for Catt. Co. 1840 age 77 yrs. living at Franklinville.

Piram is identified as " powder boy on "Oliver Cromwell" and "Confederacy;" in a biography of his g-grandson Willis Johnson Ripley, as shown in these files.
