After traveling extensively in the Altenheim, Offenburg, & Baden regions of Germany and in Alsace I found that the original spelling was Rinckel for most of the family. My great grandfather spelled it Rinckel, one son changed his to Rinkel,and one changed his to Rinckle. I think many tried to Americanize the name.
