James F. Ringo, b. 1840: son of Solomon Ringo and Julia Ann Tobin; married Catherine Downs about 1861. Catherine Downs was b. est 1842. In the 1870 census Menifee County, Ky; in 1879 mentioned in Commissioner's Deed (St Vith Church Rec.) James F Ringo enlisted at Piketon, Ky 8-25-1862 as Private, Company H, 5th Regiment, Kentucky Infantry, CSA for 3 years. Est date of death 1873. Julia Ann married a second time in Menifee Co, Ky 6-27-1879 to James W. Hodge. James F. Ringo and Catherine Downs had 4 children:
A. Louisa Ringo, b. 8-24-1861, Montgomery Co. Ky
B. Viola Ringo, b. 1865
C. Emma Ringo, b. 1868
D. Laura Ringo, b. 1871
Louisa Ringo married Joseph M. Rothwell, 3-20-1872 in Menifee Co, Ky
Viola Ringo married Samuel Staton, 2-15-1884 in Menifee Co, Ky
Emma Ringo died after 1879
Laura Ringo married R.P. Cole, 6-10-1918 in Menifee Co, Ky
James F. Ringo is in the Philip Ringo line, Volume III of the Ringo Family History. He was my 3 times Great Uncle. James F. Ringo's grandfather was Philip Ringo who died young in 1785 in Loudoun Co, Va. His wife, Margaret and 7 children moved to Montgomery Co, Ky and lived on the Henry Ringo farm until his death in 1803
