Ms. Merckle, Have read your post on Thomas Ring genealogy. I can find no evidence of Thomas Ring father being of Cherokee heritage. Thomas Ring 1700-1796 was of English parents. His son Thomas Ring jr. 1757-1846 Granville county, North Carolina is my direct line. My genealogy here in North Carolina goes back to Susan Fountain and Thomas Ring jr 1757-1846. In the 1736 Ring Bible there is no mention of Cherokee Blood. Thomas and Susan had 4 children, Dinah, Elizabeth, Thomas jr 1790-1855 ( my line), and Joseph Peter (1795-1865) I have never saw any evidence of a son named William either. Thomas Ring 1757 had a brother named William, as well as John, and Martin born in 1736. In 1810 Federal census of Stokes county William Ring was living in the Deep River District of Stokes county. John Ring moved to Indiana after 1803, but returned to NC,before his death.Thomas Ring lived and died
on his homesite where the family cemetary can be viewed even today.
