Shirley Margaret Boyle passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on May 26, 2009. She was born on August 4th, 1928 on the family farm near Crystal City, Manitoba. She attended the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1949. After completing an internship in Hamilton, Ontario, she moved to Fort William to work as a dietician at McKellar Hospital. She enjoyed working in various capacities in her chosen profession for many years. She married Bill Boyle in 1958 and they raised their family in Westfort. She is survived by her children: Margaret (Paul) Tarleton and their children William, Peter and Michael; Elizabeth Boyle (Christopher Higgs) and their children Emma and John, and Peter (Diane) Boyle and their children Joseph and Gillian. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Mary Boyle and Lenore Boyle of Thunder Bay and her cousin June Downey of Cambridge, Ontario, and many much cherished nieces and nephews. She will be remembered fondly by numerous family members and close friends and neighbours who took good care of her throughout the years. She was predeceased by her husband William Francis Boyle; her parents J.C. Burdette and Alma Ring; and her sisters and brothers-in law. Shirley had an inquisitive mind and was interested in reading, design, architecture and especially the history of her beloved Prairies. She appreciated the friendship and support of her friends and neighbours throughout the years. She liked nothing better than to chat with a close friend over a cup of tea. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Travelodge - Airlane Hotel at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 30th, 2009 following a private interment. If so desired, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
