I know of two Clement Rineys, one born in 1768, one born in 1786. Many Rineys lived in Washington County, KY. Some descendants of both these families changed the spelling of their name to Raney when they moved on to other states, probably because the vowel sounds were misunderstood and misspelled. (A Kentucky twang makes Riney sound like RAINey or Reiney sometimes). The family naming patterns seem to be that many fathers named their children after their own brothers or uncles. Very possibly your Clement is related to one of these...
