Aloha, relative! I received copies of you posting from Indiana and Ohio this morning already! We Schlemmers work fast! Your Pierre was the oldest brother of my Great-grandmother Catharina Maria, born 3 Apr 1935 in Stark, Ohio. Pierre was 20 years older, and there were seven siblings in between. I am 99% certain of my information , as I have a copy of the Church Records from Erckartswiller. I know where you got the information that Pierre died in Goshen, as that is what has been circulated on the Web. But he actually died in Madison, St. Joseph, IN in or abt 1851. He is listed in the 1850 census there with his name spelled Slimer. Pierre and Catharina's mother Catharina Sali did not die in Germany. She came to the USA with her family and bore her last child, my Great-grandmother, in Ohio on 3 April 1835. The family had immigrated in early 1835. The family lived in Ohio from 1835-1839 when they moved to Monroeville, IN. She died in 1843, the first death recorded in Monroe Township. She is buried in the Schlemmer Family Cemetery which was located on the south-west corner of their farm. The cemetery is still there and easily accessible. I NEVER claim to be 100% correct, but I do think the information is quite accurate. I would love to share any and all information with you. Aloha from Hawaii. Dolly Kikuchi-Jackemeyer-Schlemmer on my dad's side.
