I am looking for information about Catharine/Catherine RINEHART/Reinhart/Rhinehart/Reinhardt who was born ca. 1820 in France-- most likely Alsace. She immigrated to the U.S., and eventually located in St. Joseph County, Indiana. She first married a Peter or Pierre SCHLEMMER/Schlimmer/Slimmer/Slemmer. Their son, John SCHLEMMER was born in Oct. of 1841. They had a son Jacob, & I also believe, a son William.
The family shows up in the St. Joseph Co, IN census in 1850.
Peter SCHLEMMER died sometime between 1850 & 1860, and Catharine RINEHART Schlemmer married a Jacob MITCHEL/Mitchell//Michel.
Catharine & Jacob MITCHEL had at least two children:
Christena MITCHEL (b. ca.1853) who married a George SCHLEMMER
George MITCHEL (b. ca. 1857) who married a Margaret ZIMMER.
By the 1880 census, Catherine RINEHART Schlemmer Mitchel was a widow again.
Catharine Catherine RINEHART Schlemmer MITCHEL died 5 June 1897 in Madison Township, St. Joseph Co, IN
Catharine RINEHART may have come to Indiana via Stark Co, Ohio (the Canton area). She may have also lived in and around Allen County, Indiana: Fort Wayne & Monroeville areas. In fact, Peter/Pierre Schlemmer & Catharine Rinehart may have been married in Allen Co., IN.
Any help you can provide about Catharine Rinehart, her parents, siblings, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
