Greetings to all you Riley researchers out there.....I've decided to try David's shotgun approach to this family--they are making me crazy!I believe, as much as we can trust Census records that my oldest Riley, James, hailed from MARYLAND and in 1779 was born somewhere in that state. The first place I've located them after that is in VERMILLION COUNTY, INDIANA.G-G-G-G-Grandpa ABRAHAM RILEY was born there in 1813.He married Elizabeth YEAZEL in 1834 and shortly thereafter, the whole clan headed for GREEN COUNTY, WISCONSIN.ABE had brothers named ANDREW, HENRY, ALVIN, and GEORGE.
ABRAHAM m. Elizabeth YEAZEL, children: Mary E. ODGEN-BEESON, MARIA, GEORGE, AMANDA, CATHERINE, HENRY, BENJAMIN, IDA MAE, AND JAMES.
ANDREW m. Elizabeth YOUNG and they had a dau. named CLARISSA, abt 1849
HENRY m. ?, children: DANIEL, MARY ANN, CHARLES, SQUIRE JAMES, LUCINDA AND ALVIN
GEORGE m. Elizabeth and had sons, JOSEPH-1845 AND DAVID-1848
ALVIN m. LUCINDA, children: JAMES F. and MARY LEE--TWINS, 1846 and ELIZABETH-1848
While some of the family moved on to Iowa, many members stayed in Wisconsin.
Of Abraham's children, I have connected with a researcher who descends from Ida Mae.She married John Lane and had 8 children.BENJAMIN also married a girl named Elizabeth and they had 2 daughters--Cora and Sue about 1877 and 1882 respectively.James is my ggggrandpa. He married Mary Lee and had 1 son named William.
Of HENRY'S children, daughter LUCINDA m. John McCANN abt 1887, 1 dau. RUTH MAE McCANN
ALVIN m. BELLE, whose maiden name I am suddenly unable to locate, and had 2 children, ELIZABETH and DANIEL DORSEY, both born in Wisconsin.
If any of this looks familiar--please respond.I am hoping that a connection with one of the lines descending from the siblings of gr-gr-gr-gr-grandpa Abraham will open up some doors to this family.I know this was long--but thanks for your time
