John, do you have the parents of John Riley? What County is Hartman, AR in?Explanation:My G-Grandfather, Jmes Ningen Riley, b. 1855, Scotland, Van Burne Co., AR, had an Uncle John Riley, B. 1837 somewhere in TN, possibly had a twin brother Samuel.Would love to share information. Our family was of Cherokee descent from SC & TN area.My grandmother was 6 ft. tall, her brother Hugh Riley was approximately 6ft. 7 or 8", extremely tall for his era.The Rileys, so the family legend goes, left TN when the Cherokees were sent to AR to look over the land with thoughts of receiving land from Andrew Jackson. They never went back to Tennessee.I do know when the government offered the Cherokee People land after the Civil war, My g-grandfather told his children that the government couldn't give him what already belonged to him.
Looking forward to sharing information, even if not the same branch of the tree--still in the same state.
