looking for information on minnie lee rigsby merritt born in 1871-1872 in macon
ga. bibb county. had brothers (whatley, henry, greenberry) married a merritt in the
early 1890's and had a son possibly clay or clyde.
[no Rigsby in Union Co on 1870 census]
[Greenberry is R79.4. One one census he is listed with a sister Minnie L
born c1872. The problem is that Greenberry's father Augustus died in
1862, so could not be Minnie's father. Possible Augustus' widow Mary
Hearn remarried, and Minnie should have a different last name. Also
possible is that Minnie was illegitimate.]

Friday January 16, 1903 Woman Shoots a Student.

Macon, Ga.: Mrs. Effie L. Carson, wife of a railroad machinist,
formerly the wife of Ernest Thompson, a printer, shot and instantly
killed Robert A. Rigsby, a student in a business college in the law
office of Marmaduke C. Bayne, an attorney, to whom she had come for
advice. She shot the man twice in the head and once through the heart.
The woman was a teacher of telegraphy in a school, and says Rigsby had
slandered her.

at Butler Bethel.
