I am looking for info. on William Rigsby/Rigby ( born c. 1755-1760) in NC. William
marries Mary (born 1774,last name unknown). By 1800 they and 4 daughters are in
Warren County Georgia. In all William and Mary have 7 children. William dies in
Troup County Ga. between June 1834 and Nov 1835. Mary Rigsby dies in Troup Co.
GA. between 1850 & 1860. Family lore has William fighting with the British. My
Fathers line is descended from William and Marys son Allen Rigsby that marries
Milleas Patterson in Troup Co. GA. on 10 Nov 1829.

My ggrandfather's name was Allen Arthur Rigsby. He lived in Alabama at
least for most of his life, although he may have been born in GA or the
Carolinas. His children are Jeff, Eunice, Edd, and Estelle.

Enoch M. Rigsby was my grgr aunt's second husband. Elvie Lucas Nichols
married Enoch after her first husband Jim C. Nichols died. I understand
that Enoch married a third time (a woman named Johnson) after Elvie died.
I would like to make contact with any of Enoch's family. He is buried
at Wesley Chapel Cemetary in Butler County AL and died in 1943.

Allen R. Rigsby marries Barbara A Luker on 16 Jan 1878 They
have 10 children ,9 that live.Allen Rigsby and family ( except James
Allen Rigsby ) move to Mc lennan Co. Texas in 1905 and end up in
Terrall, Texas. James R Rigsby is one of 7 children born to Allen Rigsby
(b. 1807, d. 1870-1880) Allen Rigsby was married to Milleas Patterson (
b. 1812, d. after 1880) on 10 Nov. 1829 in Troup Co. Ga. 2 of their
children are born in Ga. The family moves to Ala. 1840-1841, and the
rest of the children are born in Clay Co. Ala. Allen Rigsby is the son of
William Rigsby (b. c.1750 in N. C.) and Mary( last name unknown )She
was b. 1774 ,in NC and died 1850-1860 in Troup Co Ga.Mary and
William have 12 children,4 were born in N.C.And the other 8 were born
in Ga. after the family came there in 1800.

Am trying to verify that Eli Rigsby and wife Nancy, my ggrandparents, are
the same persons as Eli Rigby who married Nancy Grizzle, Feb 19, 1838, in
Troup County GA. Also the will of William Rigbey, Troup County GA, dated
Jun 2, 1834 lists as a legatee a son named Eli. I believe both of these are
the same person as my ggrandfather, just a matter of different spellings.
Can anyone give me definite proof?
My ggrandparents first appear on the 1860 Trinity County TX Census with the
following info: Eli, age 49, b. NC; Nancy, age 40, b. GA, with 8 children,
3 sons and 5 daughters ranging in age from 1 to 19 all listed as being born
in Alabama. Haven't been able to find them on 1840 or 1850 Census of any
state.
This same couple appear on the 1870 Houston County TX Census with the
following info: Eli, age 64, b. GA; Nancy age 50, b. GA with 4 daughters
ranging in age from 6-17 years.
The 1880 Trinity County TX Census lists Nancy age 64 as a widow with 3
daughters from age 16 to 25.

Grizzle/ Griswold b. c1785 Halifax Co., NC. married Elizabeth Harrison
on 27 May 1810 in Warren Co. GA. , and whose sister Martha Grizzle m. Alfred
Rigby/Rigsby , and if your Eli Rigby was first married to Martha Hicks
on 14 Oct. 1832 in Troup Co. Ga. then yes, they are the same people.
My father descends from William RIGBY ( whose will you refer
to ) through his son Allen Rigsby m. Milleas Patterson 10 Nov. 1829 Troup
Ga. William Rigby is his 3rd ggrandfather.
One note , Eli Rigby/Rigsby is born in Ga.

Rigsby/Rigby andFrances Grizzle in "Early Marriages, Troup
County, Georgia, 1828-1900".
The dates that I have are as follows. Alfred Rigby m Martha Grizle
16 Nov 1835. Eli Rigby m Nancy Grizzle 19 Feb 1838.Noah Rigby m
Frances Grizzle 9 Jan 1839.It was a second marriage for Eli.
My fathers line descends from Allen Rigsby, brother of the above
and son of William and Mary Rigsby.

Troup Co. Ga. on 13 Jan. 1830. She is the daughter of William and Mary
Rigsby. William is born C 1767 and dies between 2June1834 and
2Nov.1835. The marriage date is from a book that might be of some help to
you."Early Marriages,Troup County Georgia,1828-1900" My fathers line is
descended from her brother Allen Rigsby and Milleas Patterson. Wish that I

By the way one of my fathers aunts(Dora Rigsby) marries a Jack Short in
