Peter B. Righter father of Capt. John Righter.

Peter is my Fourth Great grandfather

Peter was a known secessionist before start of Civil War. Federal troops were sent to break up secession meeting at his home in Marion County Va.(WV). One federal soldier was reported to have been wounded and later died of the wounds. Federal troops later returned to abandoned residence and burnt it to the ground. Peter B. joined the 3rd Virginia State Line CSA. Taken prisoner sent to Antheneum prison amd then to Camp Chase. Part of prisoner exchange and later enlisted in 19th Virginia Calvary Company D. CSA. Under command of his son Captain John Righter. James Madison Univeristy has pardon from President Jackson addressed to Peter B. This is part of the George W. Manley Collection
