I was intrigued by your message because I remembered seeing the Aldrich name several times in my research. I think I have your answer. Your ancestors lived close to mine, so I happened to have the 1850 census data handy. I also included the other Aldrich's and Rifle's in the county since they may be related. For Adan and Abel, they lived only two households apart (maybe Abel is the father of Adan?) Another interesting note is that Arurah Aldrich was directly above (young) Amos Rifle in Hamlin Twp. For the extra people I didn't list all the children in the household, just the head, his age, and place of birth.

1850 McKean County Penn. Census
(Household #221) pg 16, Hamlin Township
Adan Aldrich,29,M,Lumberman,b: NY

(Household #223) pg 16, Hamlin Twp
Abel Aldrich, 53, RI; with wife Nancy, 55, CT; also lists children

Keating Township
pg 3 - Mason W. Aldrich, 23, NY (clerk in the household of Otto J. Hamlin, Attorney)
pg 5 - Alpheus Aldrich, 32, NY +family
pg 6 - Jirah Aldrich, 26, NY (laborer in the household of Ambrose Taylor)

Hamlin Township,
pg 15 - Arurah Aldrich, 27, NY
pg 15 - Amos Rifle, 32
pg 15 - Andrew Rifle, 28 (my ancestor)

Norwich Twp
pg 57 - Amos Rifle, 72
pg 57 - Daniel Rifle, 46
