Jean-Baptiste Riel, mid to late 1800s, Déléage, Québec
In the mid to late 1800s, and perhaps a bit beyond, a Jean-Baptiste Riel owned property on Serpent Lake in the municipality of Déléage, Québec. The lake is now known as Kensington Lake.At the same time, the Oblate Fathers of Montréal (Immaculate Conception of Mary) owned a property on that same lake. According to local folklore, Louis Rielmay have spent time in hiding at this lake. I am trying to determine if there is a genealogical connection between the Jean-Baptiste Riel of Serpent Lake and Louis David Riel. Any advice in this regard would be appreciated.
