Stanley Claude Riedel, 61, of 197 Walker St., Tiffin, died at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at his home.


He was born Feb. 27, 1943, in Sycamore, to the late Stanley H. and Helen M. (Walton) Riedel. He married Peggy Caldwell and they divorced. On Sept. 8, 1984, he married Shelly (Rochester) Riedel. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Ms. Tony Riedel of Republic; four grandchildren: Tyler Riedel, Miranda Bingamon, Gabby Galan, and Madison Galan; two brothers, Mr. Craig A. Riedel of rural Nevada, Ohio, and Mr. Tobe N. Riedel of Tiffin; and two sisters, Mrs. Dave (Carolyn) Sigler of rural Sycamore, and Mrs. Pete (Cleone) Hummel of rural Sycamore.
Mr. Riedel, a 1961 graduate of Mohawk, was a general laborer for Crescent Manufacturing in Fremont, Ohio, for 20 years. He was affiliated with the Protestant Faith. His memberships included: the Sycamore American Legion Post 250.

A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Riedel served during the Vietnam Era receiving several decorations and medals during his tour of duty. He received the Nation Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Army Commendation Medal.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004 at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore with the Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Sycamore American Legion Post 250 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
