What I have been told was that there was a family of Riebers that came up from Louisiana and settled along the Ohio River. I do have my greatgrandfather's father's name somewhere.Originally they were from Germany and possibly Switzerland or Austria before that. They found themselves at home along the Ohio River because there were so many German settlements there. Particularly Evansville up to Cincinnati. I grew up speaking German,that is how strong the influence was.
