Has anyone looked at the court documents and deeds for Augusta from 1760-1777. There are quite a few documennts with the name of John Ridpath. I was wondering if this could be the father of James instead of the one from Pa. On some of these records there is also a Thomas Smith, possibly the father of Hiram Smith who married Mary(Polly) Ridpath. On Hiram's death certifcate it has his mother as Mary Smith and that was the name of the wife of Thomas. Hiram annd Mary were my gggggrandfather and grandmother.Lova
