I am John Ridgway Living in Backford Cross Chester. I have been able to trace my Mothers family back to the Browns of Liverpool(Department Stores) circa 1863 but have drawn a blank on the Ridgway side of the Family. My father was Arthur Ridgway from 3, Ivydale Road Liverpool born 11th October 1910 He became the Chief MOH for the Wirral and his father was I believe Alfred Joseph Ridgway who married Clementine Boase circa 1900. My father had one brother Alfred, Eric who was, I understand, involved with Tate & Lyle Liverpool, and two sisters, Eileen and Marjorie who passed away last February 2005 aged 93 and 95. I have some photos of the Liverpool Family going back to 1900. My son is David John Ridgway. The Ridgway first names of David and John and Joseph seem to go back a long way throughout the Ridgway Family. I have now a grand daughter Amy Ridgway named similarly to my Grandmother Amy Brown of Liverpool .The Browns and the Ridgways have apparently been linked together for over 150 years. Part of the older family moved to New York in 1900. The Ridgways and the Browns circa that area were involved in Department stores in the UK and USA. Some members of the family moved to South Africa. Gertie Ridgway died in the fifties in Cape Town. I remember in the distant past my father telloing me of a tea company, a plantation in Barbados and a John Ridgway from the Midlands involved in pottery. I was born in Nov 1944 and am now 61. I run a training Company in North Wales and assist with the entrepreneureal side of the Princes Trust. My web site is www.osrbusiness.co.uk and my home e-mail no is firstname.lastname@example.org.
It would be great to share other information if you have it on any of the Liverpool Ridgways. Kind Regards John Ridgway
