Nancy,
Both the 1850 and 1860 census show that both Godfrey and Martha were born in SC which seems most likely. Also, Martha is listed as "wife". Have you seen a census listing a daughter named Martha? Which census? Martha re-married March 3, 1872 in Rusk Co, TX to Wiley Youngblood. It appears that both she and Godfrey were bigamists.

Drusilla is listed in the 1860 census but not 1850.
