Man Finds Tombstone Buried in Back Yard
(Lewistown-AP) - March 28, 2003 A simple backyard task has generated a bit of mystery for a Lewistown family.

Tom Bender and his sons Donald and Sam were digging a post hole for a picket fence Wednesday when they came upon a 131-year-old tombstone.

Bender says the inscription was in good condition. It read: "Hannah Elenor, daughter of W and S Riden, died January 21st, 1872. Aged four years, two months, six days."

Bender has lived on the property with his wife, Margaret, since 1975. He says he didn't find a grave and has never heard of the area being used as a cemetery.

He says he might go to the Mifflin County courthouse to look for more information about Hannah's family. He says it would be nice if there was family that would want the marker.
