Hi, Wes: I didn't read the "mail" for quite some time. I have Benjamin will, but not Robt. Stapler's. I know Mr. Stapler was 'well off' but you will notive Benj. left his land to my Caleb and $5 to the other sons- to be paid by Caleb. Made them all mad, so I heard. One son, John S. (Sankey) Riden attended the Univ. of GA, and was a judge out in Utah, I believe. Elijah Beech Riden moved to Forsythe, GA - 2 0r 3 medical doctors straight down that that line. Most of his descendants live in Bostwick, GA.
I have deeds when Benj. sold his land in Wilkes & Oglethorpe Co., GA before he moved to Jackson. I really want to know where he is buried in Jackson Co. -nothing in the Stapler Cem., there. His land was in the eastern part of Jackson about midway north/south. I'm hoping you know.
His wife Clarissa Dorsey was the daughter of Caleb Riden-Ann Arundel Co., MD and Nancy Beech/Beach.
Joseph Scott Riden was the first sheriff of Wilkes Co., Ga and there is a story about Benjamin Riden-maybe father of this Benj. being hanged in Augusta, GA -along with about 15 Rev. War soldiers or militia by the British. Then their bodies were given to the Cherokees accompanying the British. The Cherokees mutilated the bodies and threw them in the Savannah River. (Willingham's book - Wilkes Co., GA.) This is rather long, but just want to throw this out there and see if there is any Riden descendant who knows more aboutany of this, especially Benj.'s burial site in Jackson Co.
