According to Pg. 369 of the Male Index to Marriage Records, Bastrop Co.,Texas is the following: July 1, 1890---Riddles, T. E. and M. A. Catchings Vol.E.,Pg. 357 December 14, 1898---Riddle, T. E. and Vannie Smith Vol. G., Pg. 380 I am convinced the above records are those of my Grandfather, Thomas Edward Riddles b. 1855, Ark., d. 1932, McCulloch Co., Texas and that of his 1st wife, Millie/Milly A. Catchings b. 1873, Tex. 7 d. 1892, Red Rock, Bastrop Co.,Tex. She was dau/of Benjamin F. & Elizabeth/Bettie J. ? Catchings and they are buried in a family plot at Red Rock Cemetery. Thomas Edward Riddles s/o Harvey/Harva Riddle/Riddles b. 1818-1824, ILL & Mary Polly Smith b. 1831 Mo.then married my Grandmother, Vannie/Vandalia Sedalia Smith b. 1876, Tex., d. 1953 McCulloch Co., Texas. She was dau/of Van Buren & Nancy Shockley Smith of Bastrop Co., Texas. On the 1930 McCulloch Co. census, it listed Thomas as being 34-35 yrs old at the time of his first marriage which supported my believe that he was married twice. I had no proof but later found the burial of a Millie Riddles dau/of Ben. F. & Bettie Catchings and attempted to trace a marriage between Millie and some unknown Riddles man of that area. Aware of the family associations between the Catchings, Smiths and Riddles, my intuition and/or suspicions concerning Thomas Edward & Millie were recently confirmed by a thorough search of Bastrop Co., Tex. Genweb Archives. I am delighted to share this new info with all concerned and hope there will be more great discoveries for and by our families. Sincerely, Willie Gail Riddles-Rotzoll Notify Administrator about this message?
