After many months of research with a close and comparative study of numerous census records of Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas and California, I believe I have identified four additional daughters born to Richard & Celia other than Catharine b.1803,SC and Celia Ann b.1829,ILL. We know Catharine m. ? Walker & if Celia Ann married her husband has not been identifed or does anyone have that info? These are the four other daughters & their husbands: 1.Rebecca Riddles b. 1807, Tenn. married Bluford/Blueford Estes b. 1803 Ill/Kentucky son of Chism Estes & Mary Jordon. Resource: 1820 Gallatin Co.,ILL census lists a male age 17 range in Chism Estes house hold and living next door to Richard Riddle[s].There are 3 sons/males and 6 daughters/females living with Richard & Celia. Resource: 1830 Gallatin Co.,ILL census lists a Bluford Estes age range 27 with a female[Rebecca] age range of 23 living next door to Richard Riddle[s]. There are 6 sons/males and 3 daughters/females at home so 3 more sons have been born and 3 daughters have left home at this time. 2. Assenth/Senah or Senith/Lenith Riddles b.1814,Ala./Tenn.[depending on census records] married James K. Buckner/Brickner b.1801, SC on 06 Apr 1828 in Gallatin Co., ILL. Resource: Illinois State Marriage Records 1760-1899 Resource: 1840 Pulaski Co.,Mo. Census lists James Buckner born age range 39 yrs [if b.1801]w/female b. 1814 range living next door to Richard Riddles and his son Abner b.1813 lives next door also. 3. Rachael Riddles b.1815 ILL married John Roberts b.1806,Kentucky. Resource: 1850 Osage,Carroll Co.,Ark. census lists several of Richard & Celia's children living next door to one another or a few doors away, namely: Catherine Riddles Walker b. 1803 SC & her children withher brother James A. Riddles b.1826,ILL.living in her household. Then Joab Riddles b. 1813 Ill.,living alone. Several houses down is Rachel Riddles Roberts b.1815, Ill, her husband John Roberts b.Kentucky 1806, Wm. Smith's family[Harvey & James A married Smith sisters. These families all lived in same neighborhood. 4.Matilda Riddles b. 1821/22 ILL. married William B.Temple b.1811, Va. Resource: 1850 Prairie, Carroll Co.,Ark. census lists Matilda Temple b.1821, ILL and husband Wm.B.Temple b. 1811, Va living next door to Richard & Celia Riddles. Harvey & Celia Ann still in Richard's household. Resource: 1870 Dallas Co.,Texas census, precinct # 4 lists Matilda Temple w/son Shelby A. living next door to her brother Thomas Riddles b.1809-1820[depends on census]. Also listed is Thomas' son, Richard W. Riddles and in his home is Manda Estes[Mauda on census] widow of William Estes, son of Bluford Estes & Rebecca Riddles Estes]. Other resource: 1860 Mud Springs, California census lists R.W. Riddles b.1823, ILL and Wm. B.B.Temple b. Ark/Mo[son of Matilda & Wm. B. Temple] living with 3 other males. R.W. Riddles is noted as a horse dealer and Wm.B.B.Temple as a drover. I believe R.W. Riddles is another son of Richard & Celia Riddles. Of significant importance is the 1860 Montague Co., Texas census wherein Richard Riddles & Sarah McDonald live next door to L.D.[Lorenzo Dow b.1835,Tenn.s/o Eli A. Riddles]& Ann Riddles. I believe L.D. to be Richard's grandson. Resource: 1880 Parker Co., Texas census lists Lorenzo Riddles' nephew, Shelby A. Temple living in his household. This is other evidence of Matilda Riddles Temple being daughter of Richard & Celia Riddles. May I also add that other than horse trading, teaching school and the Methodist ministry was prevelant in this line of the Riddles family. At one time or another various Riddles men are listed in census records as Methodist ministers;to wit; Eli A. Riddles b. 1806/06 SC, Harrison A. Riddles b. 1819 Tenn, Lorenzo D. Riddles b. 1835 Tenn, and Abner or Joab Riddles b. 1813 ILL. Please review the census records I have listed to ascertain whether or not you agree with my supposition. Thank-you, Willie Gail Riddles Rotzoll dau/of Willie Ray Riddles b. 1907>Thomas Edward Riddles b. 1855>Harvey Riddles b.1818> Richard Riddles b.1785 Notify Administrator about this message?
