William Julius Riddle 1708-1770 and Thomas Riddle 1705-1786 both left Caroline County, Virginia for Lunenburg County, Virginia and finally settled in Orange/Chatham/Moore County, North Carolina about 1763.
There is surely a link to other Riddles who were in Caroline County, Virginia in the 1700's, but I haven't found anybody researching these Riddles:
1- John Riddle died about 1738........wife Ann
2- James Riddle and wife Eliza in 1737 are mentioned in deeds and he died 1755
3- James Riddle Jr. died 1774
4- Patti Riddle dau of James Jr.? given 5 lashes in 1772 for bearing an illegitimate
child
5- Richard Riddle was a soldier in 1758 for the immediate defense of Caroline
6- Thomas Riddle orphan in 1746 may be the one who married Agnes Mims
in Goochland County, Va 1755
7- John Riddle died about 1769
8- George Riddle filed suit in 1744 against Walter Ludwidge & James Thomason
9- Andrew Riddle 1746 acknowledged in deed of land indenture
The counties of Caroline, Amelia, Orange, Goochland, Louisa, Virginia are areas where Riddles are also found and close to each other. Could they have a connection??
Does anybody have a Riddle that might have a tie to Caroline Riddles unaccounted for??
