I have been researching these two individuals in relation to my very large Thompson family of Bradley Co TN. I don't have much documentation, but I believe that William Riddle, son of Thomas Riddle b 1782 VA & Mary Igou b 1783 Bledsoe Co TN, may have married my gg grandmother's sister, Malinda Thompson b 1828 NC. I don't yet have a marriage record, but court records from Bradley co TN indicate that a William Riddle and Malinda Thompson were arrested for cohabitation (!!! ) or some such nonsense. I will be receiving these court records from another Thompson researcher soon so will have more info. Malinda must have married this William Riddle as she appears in the 1860 Carroll Co AR census as Malinda Riddle, a widow. She had three children out of wedlock with James Monroe Whitecotton (actually my gg grandfather--this gets very complicated)
and they were also listed as Riddles.
Thomas Riddle & Mary Igou also had a daughter Angeline b abt 1812 that I believe married a McAnally. If the person I have found is indeed her, she was widowed by 1860 and living in Carroll Co AR in 1860 next door to Malinda Riddle and all my Thompson kin, a very large extended family. Angeline owned land, and the Thompsons appear to be farming her land.
Does anyone out there have more info on these individuals? I have found Thomas Riddle b 1782 VA & his second wife Delilah in the 1850 Bradley Co TN census, as well as his son James Riddle age 39 and a William Riddle age 66 prob Thomas' brother living with a Mary Holt age 100 (possibly his wife's mother--he married ellen Holt) and a Mary McAnally age 66.
Any help greatly appreciated.
