My ancestor, Bailey McClennahan, was in Ozark, AR in 1853 where he married a woman (Lucretia Riddle). Trouble was Bailey was already married to a woman in KY. She threatened to divorce him and sent a letter to residents of Ozark who contacted him. He abandonded his 2nd wife like he had his first. He told the 2nd wife he was going to visit sick friends. To our knowledge he never returned. Did he leave behind a child by wife #2? We believe he had a brother, John McClannahan, living in or near Ozark at that time. See info below, Bailey used an assumed name and lied about his age......
A marriage record on file in Franklin Co., AR indicates that a Bailey B. McCallahan, age 23, married Lucretia Riddle, age 18, on 16 January 1853. Married by H. F. White, Justice of the Peace. This is recorded in Book 1, page 55.
