William Alphonus or William Alpheus Riddell???

I am trying to determine which is the correct middle name of William A. Riddell, oldest son of William Henry Riddell and his second wife WILLIE ANN PRICE RIDDELL. William A. was called "Alf" by family members, but I have always thought that it was likely the middle name of this man (brother of my grandfather) was William Alpheus, probably named for Willie Ann's brother Alpheus Price who died in the Civil War. I see on family trees, both names. Does anyone know for sure.
