Seeking information on a family of Riddells in Choctaw Co., MS. Mary J. (possibly Mary C/E) Gilliam, dau. of William D. Gilliam and Mary Amarilla Brock, married to a Riddell in Choctaw Co., MS. They married about 1870-1880? She was born about 1853 in Alabama; Wm. D. Gilliam died in the C.W.; Mary Amarilla relocated with some of her Brock family to Choctaw Co., MS. On the 1880 Choctaw Co. census I found a family: John L. Riddle - age 27, b. MS, father b. PA, mother b. AL Mary J. - age 24, wife, b. AL, parents b. AL Mary C. - age 8, dau., b. MS, father b. MS, mother b. AL Emma J. - age 5, dau., b. MS, father b. MS, mother b. AL Sarah C.- age 1, dau., b. MS, father b. MS, mother b. AL Then on the 1900 census, Choctaw Co., I only found the following family that might belong to Mary: Riddell, Mary C/E? - head, b. June 1854, age 45, widow, b. AL, parents b. AL, mother of 5 children, 3 living William - son, b. Jan. 1887, age 13, b. MS, father b. MS, mother b. AL James - son, b. Oct. 1889, age 10, b. MS, father b. MS, mother b. AL BROCK, Eisa - cousin, female, b. July 1880, age 19, b. MS, parents b. AL BROCK, Henry L.- cousin, male, b. Dec. 1, 1884, b. MS, parents b. AL I believe this might be the correct family, however, I have no definitive proof on any of the above. On the WWI draft registration cards, I found William Riddell b. Jan. 15, 1886, which is probably the above Wm. Riddell. Wm. D. Gilliam and Mary Amarilla Brock had 4 children. Their children were: 1. Mary Jane Gilliam, b. abt 183 2. James Howell Gilliam, b. Dec 1855, d. 1858 AL 3. John Thomas Gilliam, b. Apr 1858, d. Aug 1935 4. Frances Emaline (Emma) Gilliam, b. Sept 1863, d. aft 1930. Thank you for any information on any of the above, especially the Riddell family group. Pat Dakin; patdakin@mindspring.com Notify Administrator about this message?
