Looking for info on Isaac Walter Ricks and his son Felix Grundy Ricks b 5-5-1907 Jasper, AL m. Ada Mae Henderson b 11-11-1909. Felix Grundy lived in the Athens TN area during a good part of his life. Information I have says Felix had a brother named Clyde and that their mother, wife of Isaac, was 1/2 Cherokee Indian. This is what has been recalled by TN family.

I'm not a Ricks descendant, but I'm working on establishing the relationships between the people who are buried in the Morgan/Upper Spring Cemetery in McMinn Co., TN. Buried there are a number of Ricks.
Isaac Walter Ricks and his wife Elizabeth Orten may be buried there, but if they are, there are no tombstones for them. It would be logical for them to have been buried there since Christopher Columbus Ricks is buried there, as are apparently some of their children. Also buried in Spring Creek are Elizabeth's parents, possibly her grandparents (no stones), and her great-grandparents. I am an Orten descendant so if anyone is interested in the Orten line, please let me know.
Here are the Ricks buried at Upper Spring Creek:
Ricks, Ada M. 11-10-1909. No death date is given. She may still be living.
Ricks, Grundy F., born 5/1/1907, died 1/5/1954. I guess this is Felix Grundy, son of Isaac W. and Elizabeth O.
Ricks, Clyde F., born 6/8/1894, died 5/31/1946
Ricks, Florence E., born 8/19/1896, died 8/16/1969, married 8/31/1919.
Ricks, C. C., born 12/27/1850, died 2/8/1892.
Ricks, Idela, born 3/28/1922, died 3/30 1922
Ricks, J. O., born 8/30/1933, died 8/30/1933
Ricks, Minnie, born 4/23/1880, died 3/16/1971
Ricks, Thomas, born 12/20/1883, died 5/15/1939
Could someone help me with the relationship between the above people. Here's what I have gotten so far:
1. C. C. Ricks was the grandfather of Grundy F. (Felix Grundy) and Clyde F.
2. Felix Grundy and Clyde F. were the sons of Isaac W. and Elizabeth O. Ricks.
3. Ada M. was Ada Mae Henderson, wife of Felix Grundy.
Does anyone know Florence E.'s maiden name?
How do Thomas and Minnie fit in?
Whose children were Idela and J. O.?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ada Mae Henderson Ricks died... 9 Nov.1999, Knoxville, Tn. wife of Felix Grundy Ricks.
Children: Hugh, Douglas, Earl, Virgil.

The name ORTHAN is so close to ORTON that I had to explore Florence E. Ricks background. Her maiden name was actually EVERETT. She was the daughter of Franklin F. Everett and Martha E. Hill, who are buried in the Short Creek Cemetery in McMinn Co., TN.

Elizabeth Orton who married Isaac Walter Ricks was the daughter of John Orton and Martha Katheryn Weir. John Orton was the son of Charles Vandeveer Orton and Elizabeth Whaley, the grandson of Charles Orton and his first wife Margaret.

Elizabeth RICKS v. I. W. RICKS, CC 1367, filed 7 Sep 1894. Petition for divorce, not granted and she appeals to Tennessee Supreme Court, and then dismisses bill. Married in McMinn Co. on 4 May 1893; a child named Clide born 7 June 1894; she charges cruelty and she had to remove to home of her father, John Orten.

According to the 1900 census, Elizabeth had two children, only one still living. I don't know whether the child that died was a girl or boy. Clyde's middle name was Foree.
I don't know when Elizabeth died. Perhaps it was before Isaac remarried to Sarah Bonner. Or maybe she tried again and was sucessful. Interesting that Elizabeth and Isaac are listed together on the 1900 when she filed for divorce in 1894. I haven't found them on the 1910, 1920, or 1930.
