I am also working on the Ricks family history and I need help! :) My great great grandfather is Marlow Ricks (born 1825 in SC)married to Mary Ricks of GA (Don't know maiden name). I see that they are the only african american family listed on the 1870 census, pg.61 living next to Barbara and Melancthon Thigpen. Do you know if Barbara Ricks Thigpen's family owned Marlow Ricks family at one time and if so, would you know who Marlow's parents are?
