Thomas Ricketts was my gggg grandfather. I have Nancy Sipple as having been born in Smyrna DE no date.
I am descended from their son Thomas b. 1/12 1787 d. 2/4/1856 Elkton MD m Jane Davidson b. 12/3/1791 Cherry Hill
d.5/10/1864 I believe Rachel had at least 2 sisters. My family has three samplers done and signed by each sisters all similar. Thomas II had at least 2 sons, George being my gg grandfather. The other was the Editor of the Cecil Co. Whig. His son was Major Benjamin Ricketts of the 2nd Delaware Vol. during the Civil War . Many of his letters to the paper regarding the War have been published . His Father was the defendent in a Murder trial , the transcript of which I have somewhere. He was acquitted but reading the transcript I suspect politics and mores of the time had something to do with it. I was always told it was a duel, not uncommon among political rivals of the era. It was defended as self defense in the trial. Sincerely David Ricketts
