A biography/family history of John E. Rickards is included in "Progressive Men of the State of Montana". In 1876, John married Miss Lizzie M. Wilson, a native of Newark, Del. Children: Homer C., Seward A., Earl M. Lizzie died in 1881 and is buried in San Francisco. In 1884, John married Mrs. Eliza A. (Ellis) Boucher, daughter of Thomas P. Ellis of Pembroke, Ontario. She had one child. Rickards children: Howard B., Carlisle, Rachel.
