This George Richerson appears to be the same who served a deputy sheriff in Caroline Co in 1770s and served in the Rev. War. He moved to Mecklenburg Co VA about 1791 In 1793 he transferred 194 acres in Caroline Co VA to Giles Richerson. We do not know the relationship. In 1785, we believe that Elizabeth Dejarnette Richerson had died, and probably because her father Joseph had deed her a gift or gifts, her children with George Richerson required a legal guardian. In 1785 Joseph Dejarnette was guardian to Polly and Rebecca, children of George Richerson. In 1791 Polly and Rebecca chose George Richerson as their guardian. Some of my notes indicate that he and Elizabeth had a son Joseph, but I am not sure. George remarried, a Sarah. He died about 1795. I have not seen this source just a list: Mecklenburg Gen. Index to Wills and List of Heirs Appraisal 1795, Bk 4 p. 26 Richardson, George, estate Sarah, Rebecca, Bk 20, 237 1803 richardson, Sarah estate Bk 5, 62 MArtha E 22, 300 1807 Richeson, George estate account 5, 410 If someone has access to more information on that source, please post! In 1800, his younger children Elizabeth, Giles, Fanny, Sally and George had a guardian. The earliest reference I have found yet to a George Richerson/Richeson/Richardson in Caroline Co is in 1773 when he was deputy sheriff. If anyone has an earlier reference, please post! In 1782, George was taxes in Caroline for 1 adult white male, 4 slaves (no tax on women and children) My notes say that with second wife Sarah, George had George, Giles, Elizabeth, Fanny, and Sarah. Sons George and Giles served in the War of 1812 from Mecklenburg Co VA I would love to compare notes and see what the relationship is between this George and our proven Giles Richerson. As early as 1781, our Giles and his wife Jane were indented to George Richerson. Phyllis Richerson Notify Administrator about this message?
