I have set up a Richbourg (any spelling) DNA project through DNA Heritage because so many of the SC records were destroyed during the Civil War. It might also help some family members prove their descent from Claude Phillipe Richbourg that want to join the Huguenot Society. And it should help with some of the lines to show which Richbourg family you are most closely related to.
The STR with 43 markers helping determine if you have a common ancestor is $189. This is a very simple saliva test - no blood involved. Must be a male with the last name of Richbourg.
To join the project, use this joining form:
Fill it out - they will send you a free kit - follow the directions and mail it back to them. Once they receive it - they will bill you. Once the bill is paid, they will process the sample. We should have results in about 6 weeks or less. Then I can post them on my web site & a couple of other free places & we can start looking for matches to help those of us trying to connect.
http://pages.prodigy.net/blankenstein/ you can view my Richbourg ancestors at this page. You can go to the DNA section to see the other family groups I am working with. I will start a Richbourg page similar to these as soon as we have any results.
Ask if you have any questions or have any trouble joining. Dianne Blankenstein
