Karen:
Are you genetically a Richardson, but a Pugh by adoption?
That is what I am trying to find out !!I was born a Dodson, adopted as a Pugh, and found out I only matched 4 out of 37 markers to my biological father (Dodson) family tree. After the 67 marker DNA test I am about 6 markers off Lawrence (Larry) O Richardson. This places me within a certainty that in 8 generations of Richardson's I am 70.25% blood related.
I know my mother's family tree back to 1640, it's my father's lineage that I am trying to find out.I have traced through census all the Richardson's in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana and the surrounding cities and counties.
I can trace back the Richardson's in Madison County, Indiana to Lawrence O Richardson's line and his ancestor, Morgan Richardson, b 1795 in Cumberland County, Kentucky.A few of Morgan's descendants ended up in Indiana coming through Highland County Ohio to Huntington County, Indiana and filtering down to Madison County, Indiana. Some came directly from Kentucky to Anderson, Indiana to work in the General Motors plants, via New Castle, Henry County, Indiana.
This is a brief synopsis of my "brick wall" and any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
James D Pugh
