Richards Family Genealogy Forum

I am a descendant of the Richard/Richards family - my g'grandfather was a Richard(s). I've been doing a lot of research on these people and one thing I learned early on and that is, it can be either/or. For example, I was recently in Texas Co. MO where I visited the Liberty Cemetery which is in the heart of Richard/Richards country. I counted 19 headstones bearing the name Richard/Richards. One grouping of 4 very old headstones, side by side in a row, marking the graves of my g'g'grandparents, Eldridge and Sarah Richards, along with 2 of their sons, one of which was my g'grandfather and the other my g'uncle. On the parents stones it was Richards. On their two sons' stones it was Richard. A lot of people see the name Richard and just assume that their should be an "s" on it. Census takers in particular.
