Here is what another researcher had to say about the plagiarism of Harrison Thomas aka LaTour. I know Harrison took research from Lucie LeBlanc Consentino's Acadian website without her permission. He copied the entire biography that Lucie wrote about Daniel LeBlanc and placed it on forums as his own work. Outrageous!!! Harrison has taken credit for the genealogy research of many other researchers as well. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=celesebp48&id=I30792 From Lee Crockett: Correcting errors I had posted from someone I thought was reputable, but who actually plagerized Lee's work as his own. Here is what Lee sent me by email. I believe the truth sets us free from error. "Due to the frequent Internet postings by a very disreputable researcher regarding Pierre Richard, Sr. as the father of the Black slavewoman Celeste, I am posting this information on my WorldConnect Project file. There is not one shred of evidence to prove that Pierre Richard, Sr. fathered Celeste. In fact, all information points to the opposite conclusion. Pierre Richard, Sr. had only recently married Marie Isabelle Aucoin at the time Celeste would have been conceived. I have copies of the court record of the emancipation of Theotiste as well as the court case of Celeste dated April 27, 1825. The emancipation record of Theotiste is in French but the Pierre Richard, Sr./Celeste court case dated April 27, 1825 is in English. The frequent posting that Pierre Richard, Sr. was the father of Celeste by the disreputable researcher was a deliberate attempt to disparage Pierre Richard, Sr. and his family. This same researcher has also frequently posted that both Pierre Richard, Sr. and his son, Francois Richard, were slaves owned by Blaise Brasseaux. Again, this is a deliberate attempt to disparage the social standing of this prominent St. Landry Parish family. It is inexcusable and slanderous. Furthermore, that same researcher has taken my Pierre Richard, Sr./Celeste court case file and comments and represented them as his own on several forums. This is plagiarism and was done to bolster the researchers business as a professional genealogist. It too is inexcusable. When someone posts information that a man has fathered illegitimate children while married to another woman, they better have their facts and proof before doing so. To post such information without proof and out of spite and ill feelings toward another researcher is disgraceful conduct. It has no place in honest and reputable research. In addition to the untrue comments about Pierre being the father of Celeste, (name withheld) has publicly stated that Pierre was a Black slave owned by Blaise Brasseaux, that Francois Richard was a Black slave and that the Acadians were Black slaves because they came from St. Domingue, etc. All of us who are well educated in the history of our Acadian ancestors know that these statements are false. But with that said it still rankles one to see such statements posted on the forums...especially when that person being disparaged is one's own ancestor." Notify Administrator about this message?
