Thanks for your kind reply. Since my last posting, we have been able to locate a death record in Potsdam, NY for Barden Rich, brother of Gustavus Rich. The death record provided Barden's parents' names. We were able to prove that Barden and Gustavus were brothers with the help of old newspaper articles from Canton, NY which told of the bakery the two brothers operated in that town. DAR was satisfied with this as proof of parentage for Gustavus. DAR membership has been approved.
