Ok...I found the reference. Looks like the wife of Thomas Taylor is named Fereby, but later census data looks like Lucinda. Not sure.

I couldn't find anything specific on Stephen that will help, but I have a couple of thoughts. Stephen is born in Miss. In the 1880 census, it indicated that his father was born in GA. If you look at the 1840 census, there is a D.E. Rich in Perry County as well as another Rich family. Now, if you look at Stephen's kids, the first is Edward Rich. There is an Edward Rich in Perry County in 1830. If you look at the age of Edward and go back to Georgia in 1820, there is both an Edward Rich and a Daniel E. Rich in Emmanuel County, GA. In addition, there is also a Stephan Rich in Emmanuel that would be old enough to be the father of these men. The names tend to mean that there could be an association between these men.

I would pursue the course of looking a the Rich family in Emmanuel County and see if you find a relationship. If so, it could identify the father of Stephen and eventually the mother of Stephen as well. No doubt there might be a death record somewhere in Perry County for a Rich around 1837 to 1841. Might see if you can find something there.

Do you know what happened to brother Peter? His family might have more info as well......

If I find anything definative for you, will let you know.
