Donald, I have just finished replacing my computer, and I have lost my old addresses, yours included. The last place I found our Humphrey was in Salacoa, GA. It is actually just over the county line from Pickens Co. where I think my ggrandfather was living that year. You may be the person who gave me the 1870 Census information for Humphrey and Leviny. 1870 Census Salacoa, Georgia 1870 Cherokee County Census (Canton) Salacoa District 118/118 Rice, Humphrey P. Age 50, Born GA Occupation shown as Farm Labor Lavina Rice, Age 45, Keeping House, Born GA Frank C. Rice, Age 24, Farm Labor, Born GA Laura A. Rice, Age 17, Keeping House, Born GA Amanda C. Rice, Age 15, At Home, Born GA Susan S. Rice, Age 13, At Home, Born GA (Susan L) Dice S. Rice, Age 11, at Home, Born GA (Dice L Female) Jefferson T. Rice, Age 50, Farm Labor, Born GA (This is Jefferson age 10 on papers from Don Chase.) My great grandfather, John C Rice, was married by this time. I have found that he married Martha Kelley. I think I found them in the 1870 census, but their daughter is listed as Mary, not Molly. (Pickens Co Georgia, Jasper Post Office) I also have dug out my ggrandfather's pension application. He had to have witnesses to his military service. Both of the men were named Stokes, from Pickens Co. Try the area around Salacoa and the same area that is over the county line in Pickens. Let me know if you are able to find more. Kay ikcooper@pacbell.net Notify Administrator about this message?
