Constance.
Thank you for your reply.
This is very confusing because I found a similar family on Rice Southern Roots and this is what they have.

William H. Rice b abt 1845 Jefferson Co, TN d Claiborne Co, TN Sept 7, 1897
W Amanda Hickey, b abt 1848 Jefferson Co, TN d aft 1895 at 47 years

Children
Thomas Benjamin M 1871-1933
Florence F b 1873 d abt 1884 at 11 years
Lula Tennessee f 1875 - 1915
Frances F B abt 1877 d abt 1886 at 9 years
Jeptha M, M 1878 -1947
Harrison M 1884- 1932

So what you have found on the 1870 census, must be the same family. This is a great start. Thanks.

Harrison is the one that I am looking for. I have found reords where they say that Thomas was the father, but according to what I see here, Thomas was the brother. His name was Thomas Benjamin hopefully.

I found Harrison's death certificate and it says that his father was Jorge Rice and that his mother is unknown. Harrison died of T.B. on December 19, 1932. According to his death certificate, he was 46 years, 6 months and 20 days.

Again, this puts a damper on him because all the census that I have of him give different birth dates. (One says he is 60 years old and there would be no way that he would be that old. I know for sure that this is him because he is married to Pearl and lists 3 of the 4 children were listed and they all fit our Harrison. Clayton and Charles was by his first wife, Della Collins and Hobart William and Robert James were by Pearl Milligan, his second wife. I know this for sure even though I have not proved it yet. Robert is our line.
NOTE: Hobart's son says that his dad was born and raised in Sharps Chapel, TN. This should be somewhere around Union County. This is another thing that makes them hard to find, is that around 1860 ( I think, don't have the map close by) Union County was formed from bits of the 5 surrounding counties. Knox, Jefferson, Caliborne, Blount and Anderson.
So they might have been on the same farm and the counties could have changed.

My brother-in-law remembers a person named Jeff (jefferson) as being a brother. Can't find a family with Harrison and Jefferson both in the same family.

I did find a Benjamin in June 14, 1900 Census. Claiborne County
Benjamin Rice, Head 28 years born in Feb
Alice Rice, wife, 18 years born in Apr
Manda Rice Daughter, 2/12 born in Apr
Harrison, Brother 15 born in June
NOTE: Now if I figured right, from the date of the death certificate December 19, 1932, Harrison would have been born in July of 1887. That does not fit either.

Check this out, I might be wrong here. 46 years, 6 months and 20 days. Most info of what I can find on him says that he was born in June of 1884-5.
Hobart Lynn, son of Hobart William says that his grand daddy died when his dad was 11 years old. That don't fit either. Hobart William was born August 5, 1918. So at 11 years old, that would have put Harrison's death at 1929?

So according to the death certificate, William is not Harrisons father. So there goes all the information that I have found on Harrison out the window.

If the children of the above William H.is correct, then the death certificate is wrong.

Sure has me puzzled.

Thanks again for your information.
If any of this fits you line, let me know. I will be going back to the archives sometime this week to look for birth records and will be glad to share with you.
