Greetings and good health to all here,
My name is Laurie Thornton nee:Dirksen, and have been doing genealogy for nigh on seventeen years.
As far as credentials go, I have successfully researched my Father's lineage to 84 b.c.
No, I'm not kidding. It took many years before the use of computers and to verify this further, for any skeptics out there, I later found two 19th century books published on the line by author Lyman Coleman! The lineage was The Lyman Family, for reference.
I have recently however, found out that my entire family has been under the impression that my great-grandmother's maiden name was Brandi or some variation of the spelling. And now, it seems that the error of spelling turned out to be correctly spelled: BERARDI. This would definitely explain the lack of records able to be found on the former!
Her name was Margherita Ersilia Berardi, born 8-15-1887 in, we think, St. George, Rome, Italy. When she was a little girl, her family moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil because the doctor said it would be good for her Father's health. Her Father's name was Francesco and her Mother was Elizabeth(?)
Her Father, Francesco was the son of Guitano Berardi born in Italy 1849. He was a very very tall man with black hair and blue eyes. We have no information on brothers or sisters, but do not believe he was an only child. He married Elizabeth Conte born 1856-1861(?) in Italy. He, his wife and Margherita moved back to Italy but the rest of the family stayed in South America, namely:
Savario-a musician who remained in Sao Paulo.
Arthur - no info on him
Paul-died at age 20 because of a war injury. he had a steel plate in his jaw and was blonde with blue eyes.
Diamonda-married Antonio Czopa Buenos Aires
Asunta-married Guitano DeNapoli Sao Paulo
Antoinette-married Antonio Stafa Buenos Aires
Euphemia-married Salvatore Vala-South America
Francesco died of a heart attack in 1899 of a heart attack and his wife Elizabeth died in 1934-both are buried somewhere in Italy.
Margherita came to America in 1909 and was married to Francesco Ricchio. They settled in Racine, Wisconsin and all their descendants live in the same general vicinity.
If anyone has any information or relation to this line-I would love to hear from you!!! Have been searching long and hard on this one, finally getting a small break in the brick wall!!

Happy Hunting to all!!
