William C. Burdick, son of Ethan & Mary E., born April 1847 in Rhode Island. He married my family member Betsey Warren Whipple, dau. of Benjamin Whipple & Hannah Emeline Clark Kenyon (whose first husband was George S. Peckham), 20 Oct. 1867 in Hopkiinton, RI.
Their son Allen Anderson Burdick was born 12 Aug. 1868 in Hopkinton. By 1870 William was married to Elizabeth and living with her and Allen (age 2) in Hopkinton. I haven't found any record of a divorce, but know that Betsey remarried and lived until 1935. This is the last record I have of Allen, but haven't found a death record for this child.
In 1880 William, age 39 (?) is found in Stonington, CT, single, fish pedlar.
In 1882 William married for the third time - to Isabella A. Sullivan Bliven - on Dec. 31st in Westerly, RI.
In 1900 William C. Burdick is found in Massachusetts State Prison, age 52, b. Aug 1847, Rhode Island, single, occ. fish cutter.
Just wondering if anyone out there has any info regarding his incarceration, his son, what happened to his wives?
